Salary FAQ

In-hand = CTC - Employer PF (12% of basic) - Gratuity (4.81% of basic) - Income Tax - Professional Tax. Basic is typically 40-50% of CTC. Our calculator does all this automatically.

For most people earning under ₹12-15 LPA, new regime is better (zero tax up to ₹12.75L). Old regime may be better above ₹20 LPA if you have significant 80C, 80D, HRA deductions. Our comparison card shows you exactly.

Under new regime FY 2025-26, taxable income up to ₹12L gets full rebate under 87A. With ₹75K standard deduction, gross income up to ₹12.75L is effectively tax-free.

Professional tax is a state-level tax on salaried employees. Maximum ₹2,500/year. Delhi, Haryana, UP have zero PT. Maharashtra, Karnataka charge ₹200/month. Select your state in the calculator.

Both employer and employee contribute 12% of basic salary to PF. Employer's 12% is part of CTC (reduces in-hand). Employee's 12% is deducted from salary but goes to your PF account. Basic is typically 40% of CTC.
